Lessons

Tuition is $140 a month for once a week 30 minute private lessons. Tuition is paid directly to the instructor. For months that have 5 weeks, the cost is the same. If you need to miss a lesson the instructor will schedule a makeup lesson. Missing a lesson without contacting the instructor will result in losing that lesson's tuition.

At Volume 11 Music our Lesson program is designed for everyone no matter your age or level of play. From the beginner to the advanced student, our instructors will set up a lesson plan that's fun and informative to get you playing the instrument of your choice. At Volume 11 Music we take the approach that one size doesn't fit all so each student get's a lesson plan set up specifically to set them up for success. 

Our very talented instructors can carry the student though the beginning stage to a very high level. From strumming basic cords or learning rudiments, to playing leads, and solos.

Rik Lawhorne

Rik Lawhorne began his musical career by studying privately with Jazz Virtuoso Pete Sellers. He was a professional guitar instructor for Roberson’s Music in Fredericksburg, Virginia for 35 years. Rik has been performing throughout the mid-Atlantic area since the mid-1980s.

During this time, Rik has performed a wide variety of musical styles including, but not limited to rock, blues, country, and jazz. He has opened concerts for national artists including Blue Oyster Cult, Foghat, JoDee Messina, Diamond Rio, Shenandoah, and Little Texas. In addition to having songs that he wrote and performed aired on East Coast radio stations, Rik’s skills have also been recognized in several national music publications such as Guitar Player and G-Force magazines.

Drums

Joseph Miller has been pursuing the art of drumming for well over 40 years. He has performed in dozens upon dozens of bands over the last few decades. His style ranging from rock, blues, jazz & funk, to drum corp.

He began his musical expedition in concert and marching band, but the appeal of Rock & Roll had him hitting the drum kit and a lifetime of drumming fervor.

Mark Dunn is a full-time touring guitarist with regional and national acts but is now headlining shows. He is a a performer, singer and artist. Loved by audiences across Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region, he's a master of the six-string & shows you why he's in demand onstage and in the studio. His voice and talent keeps Rock and Roll alive. He's a CMA Award nominee for Touring Musician of the year 2014, & 2008 Georgia Musician of the Year, awarded by his musical peers in that state.

It all started when he was young, raised a military brat and born in Iceland, but his family eventually settled in the Virginia Beach - an area well known for its love of live music. Mark was raised around guitar players & began to learn at a young age - inspired by Eddie Van Halen & Stevie Ray Vaughn. By the time he was a teenager, he was playing professionally.
